A Third Attempt, a Rigged Registration Scheme, and a Genocide Nobody Is Covering
Wednesday on Winn Tucson covered the arc from Washington to Nigeria — from the third assassination attempt on a sitting president, to a voter registration scheme mailed from Pennsylvania to Arizona addresses, to a Christian genocide that has killed more than six million people and that almost nobody in the American press has reported.
Three guests. Three battlegrounds. And one question threaded through all of it: how much is being done to this country and to this world that we are simply not paying attention to?
Ava Chen: The Third Attempt, the CCP's Invisible Infrastructure, and the Ideology That Radicalizes Shooters
China Watch Wednesday opened on the White House Correspondents' Dinner assassination attempt — the third attempt on President Trump's life — and Ava Chen, co-host and member of the New Federal State of China, did not treat it as a one-day story. She treated it as a data point in a long pattern that has an identifiable author.
What Trump Said That Nobody Quoted
In the press conference held roughly thirty minutes after the shooting — sharp, deliberate, and composed — President Trump said something that Ava Chen wanted every listener to sit with.
"He said he studied assassinations," she said. "His own words: the most impactful people, the people who do the most, the people that make the biggest impact — they are the ones that they go after. They don't go after the ones that don't do much."
That observation is not self-congratulation. It is a precise statement about the threat model. The people who are killed or targeted are the people who are changing things. The fact that this is the third attempt tells you not that security has failed but that something being done is working well enough to make powerful enemies desperate.
Ava Chen extended the parallel to Miles Guo — dissident, whistleblower, and founder of the New Federal State of China — who has faced repeated death threats and has now been imprisoned for three years on charges Chen describes as fabricated, while the people who actually compromised American security move freely and give interviews on cable television.
"He has saved more Americans than anybody could recognize," she said. "His own life has been threatened again and again. Because he is so impactful. Nobody knows."
The Radicalization Machine Has a Builder
The shooter — a mechanical engineering graduate of one of the country's top programs, a teacher turned tutor, a participant in No Kings rallies — did not arrive at that ballroom through some private psychological deterioration. He was the product of a system.
"America today is radicalized," Chen said. "And this is the years of work of your enemy. The enemy is from foreign and domestic. And the number one foreign enemy you have is the CCP."
The mechanism is not propaganda in the traditional sense — not leaflets or broadcasts. It is ideological infection operating through institutions that Americans trust: universities, media, gaming culture, social networks. The CCP does not need to recruit the shooter. It needs to build the environment in which someone like him becomes possible — someone so saturated in hatred for a specific person that dying to kill him feels heroic.
Chen noted that House Intelligence Chair Rick Crawford had called out Bernie Sanders publicly as a communist sympathizer on the same day — not because Crawford is hyperbolic, but because Sanders' proposal to include Chinese scientists in a high-profile AI safety forum is not a collaboration. It is an invitation to the precise infrastructure that is already working to destroy the West.
The House Oversight Report You Should Read Right Now
Chen directed listeners to a specific document: the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability report from October 24, 2024, titled CCP Political Warfare. It is publicly available and free to access. Google "CCP Political Warfare" and the link appears immediately.
The report assessed 25 federal agencies — including the FBI and CIA — and concluded that the United States urgently needs a government-wide strategy to counter CCP political warfare operations already operating inside American institutions.
Navigate to page 23. The subheading in pink reads: Chinese companies are tools for the party's destructive ambitions.
"There's no such thing called private companies in China," Chen explained. "All of them are controlled by just a handful of the CCP kleptocratic families — current or previous Politburo Standing Committee members. These families control the country, control the resources. And the CCP uses those companies as proxies, as tools, to create destructive ambitions."
The implication extends to the $12 trillion in combined market value represented by Google, Meta, Microsoft, and Amazon — all reporting earnings the same day. All with documented business relationships with Chinese Communist Party-linked entities. All with decade-long records of technology transfer and market access arrangements that need to be examined seriously and publicly.
"Ask every single tech CEO: do they know anything that was not correct? Did they have the courage to talk about it, or did they choose not to? America needs to ask them. Because they are the brightest and most influential people in American society. They better sever the tie with the CCP to save America."
Chen cited the known backdoor in Apple products — which Miles Guo has documented — as the kind of information that a CEO with a $4 trillion market cap built in part through CCP market access would have specific reasons not to discuss publicly.
The Targeted Skill Development Program: The Most Dangerous Intelligence You Haven't Heard
The most significant piece of new intelligence Chen brought to the show was a newly identified CCP military program that has received almost no Western press coverage. The program is called Targeted Skill Development. The name sounds benign. It is not.
The structure: the CCP is selecting young Chinese nationals — patriotic, party-loyal, multilingual — and training them in more than 70 identified skilled trades: aircraft maintenance, ship repair, drone technology, chip repair, computer systems, boiler maintenance, HVAC, and general machinery. These individuals are then deployed abroad, sent to specific designated countries, with a financial incentive: for every dollar they earn in the target country, the CCP matches it.
The purpose is not economic. These individuals are intelligence assets.
"Because CCP knew: the AI age is coming," Chen said. "But one thing they cannot replace is the blue-collar skilled worker. You still need people to repair. And those people are going to be your intelligence gathering on the ground."
The United States has spent decades discouraging young people from skilled trades in favor of college education — creating exactly the labor shortage that makes a flood of highly trained, competitively priced foreign workers difficult to refuse. The workers arrive, integrate into critical infrastructure, and report back.
"The enemy is the machinery," Chen said. "It's the state-backed, handful of CCP kleptocrats. They treat people like animals. They use them like cannon fodder. And this is why we say the CCP regime cannot last. They have to be taken down."
The 2020 Connection and Why CCP Confidence Is So High
Chen returned to a claim she has made consistently and that she says Miles Guo made in 2019 with specific predicted numbers: the CCP's interference in the 2020 U.S. presidential election was not passive influence. It was active operation, executed through two dispatched individuals who coordinated at the structural level.
"Without the CCP, Trump became president in 2016. But with the help of the CCP, your 2020 election is gone. So how does that boost the confidence of the CCP? They say, 'I am the boss now. Without me, you cannot win.'"
That confidence is why Bernie Sanders publicly proposes bringing CCP-linked scientists into American AI forums. That confidence is why Eric Swalwell could operate for years with a documented CCP-linked figure in his orbit while the press looked away. That confidence is why the rhetoric at the Correspondents' Dinner — from members of the working press who covered a man's attempted assassination while some of their colleagues expressed wishes it had succeeded — reached the level it did.
"Your media is still filled with hatred, filled with political fighting, and hailed with radicalized voices," Chen said. "That needs to change. And the change happens with every single one of your audience. You have a country to save and a world to save. And I think the world is counting on you."
New York, Mao, and the Lie Repeated
Chen closed with a parallel that she said is not metaphorical. The platform of New York City's mayor — tax the rich, expand dependency, penalize production — tracks Mao Zedong's 1951 campaign against landlords with unsettling precision.
"Mao preached to all those peasants: you need to kill all the landlord because that way you will have their land back. That never happened. What happened is Mao used the peasants' hands to kill the landlord, then Mao killed the peasants and confiscated all the land."
The promise is always redistribution. The outcome is always consolidation. And people keep falling for the same lie because they are not taught what happened the last time someone told it.
"People need history lessons."
Joel Strabala: The Out-of-State Voter Registration Scheme, the EIC, and What 185,000 Voters in LD-17 Can Do
Joel Strabala sits on the Pima County Election Integrity Commission — the body empowered by the Pima County Board of Supervisors to provide civil monitoring of the elections process and the elections department. He joined with key voter registration dates and left with something neither he nor Winn had fully anticipated: a live document investigation.
The Dates Every Pima County Voter Needs
The primary election is July 21, 2026. The last day to register to vote is June 21, 2026. Early ballots go out on approximately June 23rd. The general election is the first Tuesday in November — November 3, 2026.
Registration can be completed in person at either of two Pima County Recorder locations: 240 North Stone Avenue (downtown) or 550 South Country Club Avenue at the corner of Valencia and Country Club.
To find your legislative district, congressional district, county supervisor district, fire district, school district, and voting precinct, go to the Pima County Recorder's website and use the "Find My Precinct" tool. Enter your home address and every relevant district appears immediately.
The Center for Voter Information Mailer: A Live Investigation
During the segment, Kathleen Winn produced a piece of mail she had received — a voter registration form sent from a Phoenix return address attributed to the Center for Voter Information. The form had pre-printed address information for the recipient, was bilingual in English and Spanish, carried a pre-paid return addressed to the Pima County Recorder's office, and bore a permit from Lansdale, Pennsylvania.
The letter inside read: Our country is changing. Do you like where it's going? The form was signed by Tom Lopach, President of the Center for Voter Information.
Strabala confirmed immediately that this is not an official Arizona government operation. It is an out-of-state funded campaign to register voters in Arizona.
The critical issue: the form requires no documentation of citizenship. Someone who fills out and mails this form to the Pima County Recorder's office provides no proof that they are a United States citizen, a resident of Arizona, or eligible to vote in any capacity.
"Oh, they're not required to provide any documentation when they return it," Strabala confirmed.
Winn was direct: "Do you think they're breaking the law?"
"I would have to agree with that assertion," he replied.
The Pima County Recorder's return address — P.O. Box 3145, Tucson, Arizona 85702 — is verified as the correct address on the Recorder's own website. Which means forms submitted this way go directly into the Recorder's intake process. The number of such forms that have been submitted and processed in Pima County is currently unknown.
Strabala agreed on the spot to bring the mailer to the EIC's next meeting on May 17th as a formal agenda item. Winn committed to filing a FOIA request to determine how many of these forms have reached the Recorder and how many resulted in actual voter registrations.
Arizona currently holds a Republican voter registration advantage of between 350,000 and 375,000 statewide. The ongoing effort to close that gap through mechanisms like this mailer is systematic and well-funded.
The Scale of What's at Stake in LD-17 Alone
Strabala offered a number that reframes the conversation about Republican voter turnout in Pima County.
Legislative District 17 — the largest LD in Pima County — has 171,600 registered voters in Pima County alone. An additional roughly 14,000 voters in the LD reside in Pinal County, bringing the total to approximately 185,600 registered voters in LD-17.
Republicans hold a 10% registration advantage over Democrats in LD-17. The district's House races — Rachel Keschel and John Winchester — are uncontested on the Republican side, meaning both will automatically advance to the general election.
The downstream implications are significant. If Republicans capture the governorship in 2026 but fail to hold or expand their legislative majorities, Governor Hobbs' veto record simply migrates to a new occupant of the office. The governor cannot fix Arizona's problems without a legislature that passes the bills.
"If you want to fix the problems in Arizona, you need to vote, and I would strongly recommend you vote for the Republican candidates in November," Strabala said. "That way we have a majority to begin to correct the decline of the state of Arizona."
Arizona has already fallen from 4th to 47th in economic growth ranking under the current administration — and some estimates put it at 48th.
"I'm hoping she gets to 50th before she's done being governor," Winn said. "I'm not encouraging anything inappropriate. Just the voters of Arizona making a change."
Mike Arnold: Nigeria, the Sokoto Caliphate, Six Million Dead, and the Schools That Are Changing the Calculation
Mike Arnold is a builder — literally and spiritually. He founded a statewide broadcast television network at age 28 (TXN, the Texas Network, the first fully digital news network in the world), later built a nationwide youth ministry from his garage (Cross Trail Outfitters), and now runs four school campuses in Nigeria for internally displaced children who have survived genocide. He is also the author of the just-published book Epicenter: Nigeria, Radical Islam, and the War for Global Order, a number one Amazon bestseller in three categories within days of its release.
He joined Winn Tucson as a planned guest — but Kathleen Winn's framing at the close of the show made the connection explicit: China is looting approximately $9 billion a year in blood minerals from Nigeria while funding the jihad that enables the extraction. There are no accidents in this broadcast.
What Nigeria Is — and Why It Matters to Americans
Nigeria is the sixth-largest nation on Earth, with more than 200 million people. It is projected to be the third-largest nation on Earth by 2050. It is one of the top five OPEC members and one of the planet's top oil-producing and exporting nations. It holds an estimated $1 trillion in mineral wealth — including the rare earth minerals essential to smartphones, electric vehicles, and next-generation technology. It produces more films annually than Hollywood.
Nigerians who emigrate to the United States represent the most educated and highest-earning immigrant group in the country, not through dependency but through productivity and integration.
"It's an amazing place, an amazing country," Arnold said. "But it's in the throes of an Islamic conquest — and it's been ongoing."
The Sokoto Caliphate and How It Was Never Disbanded
Northern Nigeria is controlled by what is formally called the Sokoto Caliphate — founded on jihad and slavery and now on its 20th generation of blood succession from its founding leader. The current Sultan of Sokoto is that 20th generation successor.
When the British formally ended colonial rule in 1960, they deliberately structured Nigeria's constitution to ensure that effective power remained in the Muslim north — specifically to continue resource extraction. What has happened in the decades since is not a political dispute or an ethnic conflict. It is a slow-moving genocide.
The caliphate's ongoing onslaught against Christian and non-Muslim populations in Nigeria has, by Arnold's documentation:
Killed more than 6 million people
Inflamed more than 10 million
Displaced as many as 30 million over the course of decades
Ten million people have been driven from their homes. The Nigerian government officially denies the displacement exists. It refers to the people in the camps as criminals, beggars, and vagrants.
The United States, under President Trump, recently redesignated Nigeria as a country of particular concern on the religious persecution watch list. The Nigerian government's response: allocate more than $10 million in lobbying contracts specifically to deflect international attention.
Obama's Intervention and How It Unleashed the Genocide
When Arnold first visited Nigeria in 2010, it was the one nation on Earth where radical Islam was being meaningfully pushed back. The country was stable, growing, and had a Christian president.
"But then our president at the time — Obama — as part of his Arab Spring, he undermined that guy. Cut off his aid to fight terror, tied him up in knots, and sent David Axelrod to advise the campaign of a northern Islamic military warlord who had called for global Sharia law."
That warlord won the election. The genocide accelerated immediately.
"It was done through Obama's meddling. And it's provable."
Nigeria's 1999 constitution — written by an Islamic military dictator — mentions Sharia and Islamic terms 165 times and contains not one Christian term. The "secular democracy" framing is, as Arnold described it, a veil over a structure rigged for permanent caliphate control.
The Press Conference That Generated Three Billion Impressions
In October of last year, Arnold was contacted by Nigeria's national security advisor — described as the second-most powerful man in the country and, by some accounts, the most dangerous man in Africa — and invited to attend and participate in a government press conference. The implied purpose was for Arnold to serve as a pro-regime Western voice, legitimizing the Nigerian government's denial of atrocities.
He updated his will. He told his family goodbye. His advisors told him he would likely be killed if he told the truth.
One week after the call, he was on the plane.
"The first thing they did was throw me in a room with three northern imams who are known terror-connected. One of these guys had publicly said, 'We all celebrate whenever unbelievers are being killed.' I was stuck in a room with this guy for a photo op and they were smiling and regurgitating the same talking points you hear in Washington."
At the press conference, in front of international media, Arnold told the truth.
Within three days, the press conference footage had accumulated more than three billion impressions globally. The ripple reached the White House. On Christmas Day, the United States bombed Sokoto — the seat of the caliphate.
"They say that's what got Trump involved."
Arnold is now — by the account of the Nigerians following these events — the most famous and influential American in Nigeria. A nickname emerged from the coverage: Hashtag Earth Shaker. In the five days before his Winn Tucson appearance, he had gained 70,000 Facebook followers.
The Schools, the Children, and the Math That Demands Action
Arnold stumbled into an IDP camp — internally displaced persons, legally equivalent to refugees but still inside their home country — in Abuja in 2019. What he found was what he describes as concentration camps: camps the government denies exist, filled with widows and children born into trauma, many of whom watched their parents hacked to death. Children who show up to any offer of help wanting, at first, only guns.
"After an education, they want to go back and rebuild."
Africa Arise, the nonprofit Arnold founded, currently operates four school campuses in the Abuja area with more than 600 full-time students. A fourth campus has just come online and can accommodate 500 more students. Teachers need to be funded. The campuses exist.
The math behind why this is urgent: there are as many as 10 to 12 million displaced people in Nigeria, with a 50 to 60 percent likelihood of radicalization without intervention. That means 5 to 6 million additional jihadists in a nation with a trillion dollars in strategic minerals — within three years — if nothing changes.
"I consider this triage. I consider it vital. My goal is to put the schools out of business because the camps shut down. The people go home. My goal is to end the genocide."
Arnold does not believe reform of the current Nigerian government is possible while the government is structured to protect the caliphate's interests. He draws the comparison directly.
"Working with this government to end the genocide is like working with the Third Reich during the Holocaust. There's no reform. There's no meaningful change that will happen as long as this regime is in place."
Leadership as Bringing Alignment to the Assignment
Arnold has built organizations — a television network, a youth ministry, a school system in a war zone — and walked away from each of them once they could sustain themselves without him. He calls this the biblical model of leadership.
"An entrepreneur's job, a leader's job, is to put themselves out of a job. Leadership is about manifesting a vision. And a real leader is the bottom of the pyramid, supporting everybody else."
He has a definition that distills his philosophy into a single line: Leadership is bringing alignment to your assignment. God gives the vision. The leader's job is to find the pieces that fit and align them into it — then step back.
"If you're still needed after a while, you're not a leader. You're a manager."
His work as a strategist and adviser to founders, executives, city leaders, and pastors — helping organizations build what lasts by aligning vision, people, purpose, and systems — is documented at MikeArnold.org.
His new book, Epicenter: Nigeria, Radical Islam and the War for Global Order, is available on Amazon. He has also written a bestselling book on artificial intelligence in business and a theological work called Uprising: Time for Christians to Rise and Shine — which argues that Christian destiny is not rescue but victory: the establishment of the kingdom of God on earth.
"Our identity, purpose, and destiny is victory, not defeat."
Africa Arise can be supported through the book and through Arnold's website. The fourth school campus needs teachers funded. The demand for what these schools provide is, in his words, virtually unlimited.
Winn Tucson airs Monday through Friday, 9 to 11 a.m., on KVOI 1030 The Voice.
